The Waste Land is a film written and directed by Zuo Zhiguo, starring Ren Suxi and Li Chen, and specially performed by Zhou Shen and Wang Jing. This film tells the story of the brother and sister who went on another journey to find people in the Gobi and were pushed to the end of their lives by a sandstorm.

将讲述三十岁出头的丛林如何也想不到，与哥哥丛来的又一次戈壁「寻人之旅」，会被一场沙暴推向生命绝境。哥哥身负重伤，丛林必须独自前行，为两条生命寻找一线生机。

电影讲述丛林（任素汐 饰）在荒原中独自前行，为自己和哥哥丛来（李晨 饰）寻找一线生机的故事。

作为一部描摹野外求生的冒险电影，此次释出的“聆听”版预告片，着重于自然环境的声音雕刻，力求将观众带入到“荒原”情境中。通过聆听荒原中风沙、闪电等自然物象与丛林的摔跤、嘶吼声交错传递，得以窥见荒原的神秘与主人公强烈的求生欲望。在此次曝光的物料中，能看到任素汐被置身于各种极端环境中，伴随着哥哥丛来说的“不要折返，没有任何意义”的台词，以及两人“深情对望”的情景，似乎暗示着这是一次没有回头路的冒险。

在名为“启程”的海报中，在“超现实”的巨型骨架奇观衬托下，更显人类的渺小。丛林单枪匹马营救哥哥的设定，加之预告最后的那句“等我回来”，感受到绝境下的坚毅，也让人好奇任素汐这场Solo冒险之旅将要遇到怎样的挑战。如此“特立独行”的影片，作为任素汐时隔近两年独挑大梁的回归作品，相信将会给观众带来更加深入人心的表演。

《荒原》虽是一部以求生为主题的电影，也涉及很多野外生存的技能展现，但同时又不局限于紧张刺激的冒险桥段。据悉，影片全程于无人区实地取景，在预告片中展现出来的落日、黄沙等自然景观本就震撼人心，在拍摄过程中两位主演任素汐和李晨也碰撞出不少“高光时刻”。如此极致设定在华语片中也非常少见，影片导演左志国表示：“《荒原》是一部非常特殊的电影，影片中看似没有对手，但其实荒原就是丛林的对手，这是一个人跟自然搏斗，与自然交流的故事。”
